A True Gentleman

Created by Freddie one year ago

Dear Gordon, my neighbour for  25 years was a  gentleman in the truest sense of the word. Kind hearted and generous; he was always welcoming and up for a chat with jokes and laughter. He regularly turned up at our door with treats of chocolate, cakes, wine or flowers - for no particular reason -just because he wanted to share. We enjoyed breakfast with him on several occasions at his favourite coffee shop in Southgate where the  staff always warmly welcomed him. He keenly took us on a tour of his workplace, The Royal Court of Justice and though retired, his past  colleagues were always pleased to see him and showed immense love and respect for him. One of my best memories of him, among many, was his VE Day anniversary tea party that he held for neighbours on his driveway, during Covid lockdown. It was a fabulous celebration  when so many of us were at a low point in our lives. Gordon was always a ‘glass half full man’ always ready to listen, always cheerful, even laterly during his illness. He was a remarkable man, thoughtful neighbour and lovely friend who shall be sadly missed.  May you now rest in a well deserved peace  Gordon. Love Freddie xx
